Przemysław Lisowski

Przemysław Lisowski, MSc – senior Polish genealogist at Your Roots in Poland, a specialist in genealogical research especially connected to Galicia, with particular emphasis on its western part, member of the Twoje Korzenie w Polsce Association, graduate of the Pedagogical University of National Education Commission in Kraków, where he graduated in history with a specialization in archivistics. During his bachelor’s degree, he prepared a dissertation on the foundation of monuments and commemorative plaques in 19th-century Kraków. During his master’s studies, he wrote a master work on the subject of the history of the Public Security Office in Dąbrowa Tarnowska Poviat in 1945-1956. He started his adventure with genealogy over 10 years ago and it has become his passion from the very beginning.

A descendant of millers and craftsmen from Lesser Poland. In the course of Polish genealogical research, he confirmed and refuted many family legends. For several years of his professional work, he visited most of the state archives in Poland. Moreover, he conducted searches in Czech and Belarusian archives, as well as in many churches and parishes. Participant of the American RootsTech 2019 conference in Salt Lake City – one of the largest genealogical events in the world. During that time he met over a dozen foreign genealogists with whom he exchanged his experiences and observations on genealogy and its development.

He popularizes knowledge about genealogy by conducting genealogy workshops and online webinars. During these events, he tries to familiarize participants with the intricacies of genealogical research and also shares his experiences and knowledge in the field of genealogy. He explores the history of Krakow with passion, as well as micro-stories related to Powiśle Dąbrowskie and the former Złoczów district. He also deals with the indexing of record books. In his free time, he packs a backpack and sets off on the routes of the Polish mountains – especially the Tatra Mountains. He is also interested in the history of football.
