Thanksgiving Day

What is Thanksgiving Day?

Thanksgiving Day is one of national holidays celebrated in the United States and Canada. Firstly it was celebrated in order to give thanks for the blessing of the harvest and the following year. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States  and on the second Monday of October in Canada. During this time there are few similar celebrations observed around the world. Despite the fact that Thanksgiving has its roots in religion and culture by many people it is celebrated in a laic way.

Although Thanksgiving is a happy holiday season it is important to remember loved ones who have passed. This festive time is a great opportunity to talk about your ancestors over old photographs and family albums. Sharing stories over holiday table and engaging older members of your family into the conversation is a beautiful way to give thanks and spend this joyful time. Use it to collect your family memories and important facts from the past.
